Actual Fact is acommunity data project that teams academic writers and cultural critics with data visualization designers and programmers to produce and publish creative research.
Actual Fact establishes a place for engagement where community scholars, academics, technologists, artists and hip-hop practitioners use the Hip-hop Word Count to drive the framework for how their own culture is defined. The resulting methodologies, findings, and objects will be taught in both formal and informal classrooms.
Should a culture own its own data?
Actual Fact allows us to explore what is gained, lost, and transformed in this process of knowledge production by including multiple voices and points of view and ultimately applying newly discovered methodologies to the analysis of other cultural datasets.
